How long does it take to make a Video Scrapbook?

It only takes a few days to actually create a Video Scrapbook, however your project must be scheduled in with others.  We prefer to work 6-8 weeks ahead of your event to insure that there is time to complete the project and return your materials and Video Scrapbook to you before you need it.  We always try to work with our customers in rushed cases or in the case of Memorial Videos which by their nature don't allow for any lead time planning.  Please call if you have a Memorial Video need, or a rush project for more information at 612-868-3463.

How much does it cost to make a Video Scrapbook ?

The final price of your Video Scrapbook depends entirely on the content which you want to include.  The least expensive video is one that contains only photos and music which would cost only $1.00 per image (plus applicable tax, and shipping).  The most expensive would contain photos, video clips, and special effects.  Our minimum job price is $50.00.  For more pricing information click here to see our complete price list.

How many pictures do I need for a Video Scrapbook ?

We recommend approximately 10 to 11 pictures per minute of music.  This allows each image to appear for a little over  five seconds with a one second cross fade between images.  This generally allows enough time to view each image before it gently transitions into the next.  We can adjust the timing on each image to match the length of your music, but our recommendation is a rate of  5 to 7 seconds per  image.  Pausing too long on each image can make the video move too slowly, and watching it can become tedious.  The other extreme of trying to cram too many images into a song is worse, as it l makes the images change too quickly and does not allow enough time to focus on the picture before it moves on.  It is better to run the images a little slower and use more music than it is to try to crunch them all together.

We recommend an maximum overall video length of between 15-20 minutes. A typical 18 minute video (photos only) would include about 200 photos.

Obviously some larger family videos will need to be longer due to the shear number of family members to be included, but these are general guideline numbers.  Your video can be as long or short as you make it.

Can I get my Video Scrapbook on a CD or a DVD?

Magic Memories Video Scrapbooks are produced on High Quality VHS videotape that can be played any home and professional VHS VCRs (video cassette recorder).

Magic Memories is now happy to offer your Video Scrapbook also on DVD. DVD copies will last much longer than a video tape and do not deteriorate with time since the recording is in digital form. A DVD copy of your Video Scrapbook is available for an additional fee.

Magic Memories can put your Video Scrapbook data on a backup data disk.  The contents of your Video Scrapbook production file can be stored on a CD ROM so that if at some point in the future you would like to have another tape or DVD made, you will have a copy of the raw materials needed to reproduce your video.  The backup disk CD cannot be played on a computer or DVD player.

With the addition of DVDs we no longer offer VCD (Video CD) production.

What if I want to make changes after I get my Video Scrapbook back.

Magic Memories makes every effort to make your Video Scrapbook perfect the first time, however being that we are all human, sometimes things don't get communicated clearly, we misunderstand your desires, we misread a name or title, or once you see the finished product, you decide that maybe you should have done something a little differently.

In any case, we stand ready to make it right for you.  If you find that Magic Memories has made a production mistake, a spelling error, discovered a slide image is reversed, or these kinds of things,  we will quickly correct the error and exchange a new video copy for the bad one.

If you realize that you had mistakenly insert a picture in the wrong place, realize after the fact that you'd forgotten to include an essential photo, or just wish that the video were done a different way, we again will cheerfully make the changes that you request.  There may be a small rework charge for some of the changes, but we will make you aware of that up front so that you know what to expect.

The only complication with changes "after the fact", are when a DVD or CD-ROM backup disk has been produced with your Video Scrapbook.  If there is an error in your Video Scrapbook due to a mistake or omission by Magic Memories, we will replace your DVD or CD for free.  However if the rework is caused by requested changes other than mistakes by Magic Memories, there would be an additional charge to recreate a new replacement DVD or CD backup.
