The purpose of this section is to provide information on what types of materials and media formats are acceptable for use in your Magic Memories Video Scrapbook. Please scroll down this page for details on all sections or click below to jump to the area of your interest.
Photographs - Color or Black & White - any size up to 24” X 24” (ask about larger sizes). Pictures in a frame or mounted in book or sheet may not give desired results and will be subject to special handling charge.
35mm Slides - Slides are accepted, however if it is not already marked on the slide please indicate which side of the slide is the "screen side" or back of the slide. An un-labeled slide can easily be turned around and put in backwards. There is a small handling charge for slides due to the additional steps required in their handling. Posters, Invitations, Newspaper clippings or other printed materials- up to 8 1/2” x 11” (ask about larger sizes) - Fine lines or detail may be fuzzy due to limited resolution of television. 3 dimensional items. T-shirts, photo buttons, etc. are accepted and will be processed as a photo.
Digital images - must include written cross reference indicating which file name goes with which picture number so we know how to use the image. (example image file BILL-SUSIE.JPG = song1 picture 3)
We can accept photos on the following digital formats.
Copyrighted photos must be accompanied by a copyright release from the photographer or studio. This is quite common and not usually a problem. Magic Memories can provide a Single Use Copyright Release form if you desire. CLICK HERE for an online form that you can print out.
Tape formats accepted -
NO OTHER DIGITAL VIDEO TAPES ARE ACCEPTED AT THIS TIME - unless customer can provide the camera with necessary cables to play them back. Alternatively, the customer can transfer the digital video to one of the above accepted formats. It is always recommended that we work with original generation tapes to increase video quality.
Digitized video clips may be submitted in the following formats
NOTE on digital video format - We prefer to work with avi (audio visual interlaced) digital video file format as it provides the highest quality image possible. In order to conserve memory storage space, many digital cameras store the video clip as an mpeg file. These files will work in the video scrapbook, but they will be less clear and more jerky than either a high quality avi format file, or a standard video tape clip.

Copyright Issues -Almost all commercially available music is copyrighted material. Generally, an individual does not have the right to reproduce any copyrighted material without the permission of the copyright holder. Magic Memories strongly supports the copyright act and feels that an artist's creative work is their property and should be protected. We are happy that they share these creative works with the public and support the concept that they should be compensated for their efforts. There is a "fair use" clause in the Copyright act which provides for limited use of copyrighted materials under certain circumstances. If you have properly purchased copyrighted materials, you have the right to duplicate those materials for your own private use such as backup copies, transferring a compact disc to cassette tape for your car, or similar uses.
For this reason, Magic Memories can not, and will not provide copyrighted music for your Video Scrapbook. The customer must provide their own properly purchased music either on cassette tape or compact disc for use in their Video Scrapbook. The finished Video Scrapbook is intended for the customers own personal use, and may not be duplicated in any manner or re-sold without the permission of all copyright holders.
We do not accept MP3 files or e-mailed copyrighted music, unless customer provides a copyright release for the material. Copyrighted music MUST be from legitimate original commercial product. CLICK HERE for an online copyright release form that you can print out.
