QUEENSTOWN (January 22, 2015) – International photographic solutions company, Magic Memories, today announced it has acquired Centryc Solutions, the innovative Sydney-based developers of guest, event and sponsor management software, MeTag.

The MeTag cloud-based platform provides personalised real-time communications and social media interactions with guests at tourist attractions, theme parks and one-off events, such as music concerts.

The acquisition, involving all Centryc assets and the transfer of staff to Magic Memories, comes after close collaboration over two years to establish the strong commercial and cultural synergies between the two companies.

Chief executive John Wikstrom says MeTag will enable Magic Memories to enhance, enrich and extend the experiences of the 50 million guests at more than 100 attraction sites around the world with which the company partners.

“This will increase our and our partner’s revenue, marketing capability and guest experience as we utilise MeTag’s real-time communications capability to strengthen the Attraction offer to guests before, during and after their visit,” he says.

MeTag would also help unlock new revenue streams, particularly around one-off events, where management of sponsor needs is a growing market, Wikstrom says.

“We’re simply delighted to welcome Centryc founder Dave Aicken and his talented team into the Magic family,” he says. “In MeTag, they have built an extremely powerful and configurable platform that is a natural complement to the innovative design approach applied at Magic Memories.”

The MeTag technology and infrastructure seamlessly integrates into Magic Memories’ current products and services, he adds. Early prototypes have successfully proven new channels for Attraction partners to exceed brand and marketing objectives with their visiting guests.

“The new platform extension will interface easily with the existing utility platforms that Magic Memories partner Attractions use such as ticketing, admissions, POS and CRM,” Wikstrom continues.

Centryc founder Dave Aicken, now Chief Marketing Technologist at Magic Memories, says he was attracted by Magic Memories global ambition and growth potential, not only within the global Attractions industry, but within the wider entertainment category.

Aicken says that, with the generous assistance of NSW Trade and Investment, Centryc had taken the best parts of CRM and access control and rebuilt from the ground up to create technology that was an outlier in global guest engagement software.

“By becoming part of Magic Memories we now have a terrific opportunity to bring our genuinely innovative technology to the rest of the world,” Aicken says. “We’re all very excited about the future.”
