Exhibition marks UK debut for the firm’s new Augmented Reality technology.
Magic Memories, a global leader in experience capture for the attractions industry, in collaboration with Plantasia Tropical Zoo, operated by Parkwood Leisure, has announced the opening of its latest attraction, Giants of the Past.
This cutting-edge exhibition opened this month and takes visitors on a journey back to the time of prehistoric giants. It highlights the remarkable relationships between ancient creatures and their present-day relatives.
Paul Sheppard, attraction manager at Plantasia Tropical Zoo, says: “We have been incredibly excited to unveil Giants of the Past to our visitors. This exhibition combines awe-inspiring displays with state-of-the-art AR technology. We believe it will not only attract new visitors to the area but also delight and educate our loyal guests.”
UK debut for innovative technology
In a UK first, this display features advanced Augmented Reality (AR) technology developed by Magic Memories. Visitors can access a magical experience on their mobile devices by scanning QR codes or the bones and fossils at each installation. The ancient creatures are brought to life in incredible detail by using augmented reality technology.
Shaun Moroney, business development director at Magic Memories, says: “Magic Memories is thrilled to be a part of the Giants of the Past project. It’s the first tranche of a significant new investment into guest experience innovation for Magic Memories where we’ve added Augmented Reality to our well-known personalized content platform.
“By combining AR technology with the wonder of fossilized skeletons we bring prehistoric giants back to life in an immersive and educational experience in partnership with Plantasia. This project captivates audiences of all ages and ignites a passion for palaeontology and history.
“This investment into new innovative technologies that augment seamlessly alongside our memory experiences is a very exciting time for operators, customers, and definitely for us all at Magic Memories to see this first experience come to life so successfully”
“It’s great that our partners at Parkwood Leisure are investing in Plantasia in this innovative way,” adds Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council cabinet member. “It’ll mean that our city centre zoo is even more of an attraction to local people and visitors. We’re pleased to continue supporting Plantasia, helping to make it a must-see visitor attraction.”
Giants of the Past is an educational experience that seeks to ignite curiosity and share the wonders of the natural world. It goes beyond entertainment, revealing amazing information about each species and highlighting the vital role of conservation in maintaining biodiversity and averting extinction.
The project illustrates Magic Memories’ commitment to creating experiences that seamlessly add value to its brand partners and their customers. The firm designs each project around four key pillars; engaging customers pre-, during, and post-visit; providing desirable and fun content experiences; developing products that entertain, educate and inform; and connecting in personal and meaningful ways.
Magic Memories recently exhibited at IAAPA Expo Asia, which took place in Bangkok from 27 to 30 May. The firm showcased its latest capture and sales solutions, along with its cutting-edge content generation platform.
